Hey good students of SMPN-6 Palangka Raya! I’m Miss Vivi. One of you must have known me before, especially students of VII.8. I would like to share one of the amazing experiences I had when I taught English in class VII.8. The learning theme that day was “School Festival”. At the beginning of the lesson, I introduced the basic concept of posters to the students. I explained that posters are visual communication media used to convey messages effectively and attractively. I also showed them examples of posters that depicted various topics related to school festivals.
Once the students had a grasp of the fundamental concepts, I assigned them the task of creating posters. I provided them with guidelines on how to create an eye-catching and informative poster, including the use of colors, images, and text. During the class, I circulated the room, providing assistance and feedback to the students. It was amazing to see their creativity and enthusiasm as they worked on their posters. As the students completed their posters, they presented their work to the class. One of them is Fuad, he explained the message behind his group poster and discussed the design choices they made. It was inspiring to see the confidence with which he spoke and the pride he took in their creations.
Overall, teaching about posters in class VII.8 was a rewarding experience. It allowed the students to express their creativity, develop their communication skills, and learn about the power of visual media. I was proud to witness their growth and enthusiasm throughout the lesson, and I hope they continue to apply the knowledge and skills they gained in their future endeavors.
Of course, in making posters, they still have to learn more, especially in conveying the message they want to convey, but I am very proud of them because they want to learn. Hopefully, their enthusiasm for learning can be an inspiration for all students in SMPN-6 Palangka Raya. “Never stop learning; never stop growing”.
